The OE Brief: An Open Enrollment Q&A with Ambetter

The OE Brief: What’s Changing, What Matters brings together insights directly from Take Command’s carrier partners ahead of Open Enrollment. We asked each carrier the same six questions about what’s new for 2027, from affordability and network access to member experience and ICHRA. Here’s what Ambetter wants benefits consultants, employers, and employees to know as they prepare for the year ahead.

The Questions & Answers

As employees shop for coverage this Open Enrollment season, what are the biggest advantages they can expect when choosing one of your plans?

Members can choose coverage that fits their preferred doctors, healthcare needs and budget, with a range of plan options designed to support different stages of life. Many plans also deliver everyday value through $0 preventive care, $0 24/7 Teladoc virtual visits for immediate care with common conditions, low-cost generics, My Health Pays rewards, Ambetter Perks, Calm Health and Noom savings. In select Indiana and Missouri service areas, new Solutions + Marathon Health plans add an all-inclusive primary care experience with $0 PCP visits and labs, same- or next-day appointments, longer visits, virtual care and care navigation—helping members access convenient, personalized care while reducing out-of-pocket costs.

What new products, enhancements, or investments are you most excited about for the upcoming plan year?

For 2027, members and brokers should watch for Solutions + Marathon Health plans in Indiana and Missouri. These plans offer $0 PCP visits and labs, same- or next-day access, longer visits, virtual care and navigation—making routine care easier to access. Calm Health adds personalized, psychologist-developed support at no cost, while Noom offers up to 20% savings on eligible programs.

How are you helping make healthcare more affordable and accessible for individuals and families?

Ambetter Health Solutions helps members manage total healthcare costs—not just monthly premiums. Multiple metal tiers provide coverage choices for different budgets, while many plans include $0 preventive care, $0 24/7 Teladoc virtual visits for common conditions and low-cost preferred generics. In select Indiana and Missouri areas, + Marathon Health plans also offer $0 PCP visits and labs, coordinated care and clinically appropriate alternatives to urgent care or the ER—supporting earlier intervention and lower downstream costs.

What are the strengths of your provider network, and how are you improving access to care for members?

Ambetter Health Solutions stands out by pairing broad local provider and hospital access with no referral requirements and in-network care across states where Solutions plans are offered. PPO and EPO options are available in select markets. Solutions + Marathon Health plans further expand access through nationwide health centers, virtual care, integrated navigation, same- or next-day appointments, minimal wait times and longer, relationship-based visits.

What should consultants and employers know about how your plans support employees participating in an Individual Coverage HRA (ICHRA)?

Unlike traditional carriers that may make existing products available for ICHRA, Ambetter Health Solutions built an off-exchange experience specifically around it. Purpose-built plan designs, local network access, administrator support, multiple tiers and whole-person programs help employees transition from group coverage without compromising choice, access or support. The original six Solutions entities surveyed by NCQA—Georgia, Ohio, Missouri, South Carolina, Mississippi and Indiana—each earned full Accredited status for three years. Accreditation establishes the quality foundation; Ambetter Health Solutions builds on it with purpose-built ICHRA plans, broad local access, administrator support and whole-person benefits—delivering a more complete offering designed to support employee choice and simplify the transition from group coverage.

Can you share how your organization supports whole-person health, including mental health, preventive care, and wellness?

Ambetter Health Solutions extends value beyond medical coverage with a connected set of whole-person programs: Calm Health, Noom savings, and FitOn Health. FitOn adds digital fitness, nutrition, mindfulness and in-person gym and studio experiences. Members may also earn up to $500 through My Health Pays and access to Ambetter Perks, 24/7 Teladoc virtual care for common conditions, Start Smart for Your Baby, care management, pharmacy delivery and the Ambetter Health app.
